Leading Global Product Manufacturer

The Quest:

This global business, like many organisations stepping up to changes and challenges worldwide, wanted its staff to engage in the performance and talent management process and for them to positively utilise the tools available that help people to develop, manage, motivate and grow. In doing so the aim was to also see a healthier distribution of results and behaviours which would support the companies vision, values and business goals. Leaders were to be developed initially and thereby aim to become the role-models and advocates of a programme that, due to the size of population, would require a 2 to 3 year roll-out plan and involve more than 700 leaders, managers and staff.

The Route

The UK market led the way and embarked on a series of development sessions of one and two day duration. Experiential learning was key and the focus was on skills development and not the systematic process. Participants recieved feedback and coaching alongside the techniques of self-management and how to engage and motivate people to take ownership of their overall contribution. Understanding what is required to change peoples beliefs and objectively measure behaviour was an important element to help shift old habits. True to our own values no powerpoint slides were used and the programme remained very pragmatic and experiential.

The Outcomes:

Three years on and the distribution of performance ratings showed a significant shift and as a result was considered a much healthier set of results. Managers took on the new behaviours at different stages and as more and more rolled out the culture of “I have to do the appraisal” moved toward “I choose to do the appraisal”. The programmes success soon spread and led to It’s international markets wanting similar successes.

This enormously successful programme led to the UK market gaining a Gold Standard Investors In People award in 2015
